    Abstract:

Effective regeneration programmers are essential to maintain the viability and genetic integrity of ex situ seed collections of crop germplasm. It is important to decide how to rejuvenate reduced mutation accumulation of stored seed, and counteracted the genetic changes by drift, fitness selection and contamination with alien pollen or seed that may occur during regeneration. This paper reviewed the recent advances of studies on regenerating strategies with self-pollinating crops. The impacts of threshold germination rate for regeneration, rejuvenation population size, and seeds harvested methods on the maintenance of genetic integrity were also discussed.
