China is the native country of loquat. Apart from having the richest variety and quantity of loquat germplasm resources in the world, our country also has the longest history of loquat cultivation and the largest loquat industry. However, for a long time, the loquat researchers have not yet systematically sorted out the important messages on the history of loquat cultivation in China, important production areas, cultivation scale and important historical events in the loquat cultural history. At the same time, there are also some false reports, which affect the in-depth understanding of loquat industry by both the loquat academic community and consumers. Therefore, the authors consulted the original texts of relevant documents to summarize the history and current situation of loquat cultivation across China and in the main cultivation provinces. At the same time, we sorted out and looked forward to the contents in the historical materials that have good reference values on excellent germplasm resources collecting of loquat, cultivation techniques, utilization of winter flowering characteristics, cultural dissemination and biological activity value, etc. We organized these looking forward to improving the understanding of loquat among the industry and all the public people, and provide references for the promotion of loquat culture in production areas, the development of downstream value-added products and the selection of new varieties.
